Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to common questions about prescribed peptide therapy, GLP-1 treatment, safety, and how 42/Longevity works.
Getting Started
A telehealth service connecting you with a full care team, a Registered Nurse who supports your journey, a Nurse Practitioner who prescribes your peptides, and a Physician who oversees every prescription as medical director, along with a licensed 503A U.S. compounding pharmacy, for peptide-based and GLP-1 treatment plans built around your goals.
Your body runs on signals, the chemical messages that tell your cells when to repair, produce energy, or slow down, and some of those signals fade as we age even though the instructions never left. The slash in 42/Longevity is borrowed from computer code, where a single mark means a small, deliberate edit to a line, which is exactly the idea here: not becoming someone new, just helping the right signals come through clearly again. As for the 42, Hitchhiker's Guide fans already know it as the answer to life, the universe, and everything, a number we kept noticing long before we ever named this company. In plain English: peptides are the chemical messages your body uses to repair itself and produce energy, and since those messages can fade as we age, 42/Longevity provides prescribed peptide therapy to help restore them.
Complete a short intake, then sign the required consent forms and securely share your health history and basic measurements with your Registered Nurse. Once that's reviewed, you'll join a brief video visit with a licensed Nurse Practitioner to confirm you're a good candidate, and your treatment is compounded and shipped with supplies included, plus ongoing support.
A Registered Nurse manages your intake, treatment plan, and ongoing program, and is personally available if you have questions or issues along the way. Every prescription requires a brief video visit with a licensed Nurse Practitioner and is reviewed and approved by our Physician, who is available for any medical escalation.
During your video visit, your Nurse Practitioner reviews your health history and goals to determine which treatment, if any, is appropriate for you. Our quiz can also help point you toward a starting recommendation, though your Nurse Practitioner makes the final clinical decision.
No. Our services are currently limited to Texas residents, based on the scope of our Nurse Practitioner's delegation authority. We may expand to additional states in the future.
Safety & Legitimacy
Research peptides sold online are not intended for human use. They are unregulated, not tested for purity or sterility, and carry no Nurse Practitioner oversight. Every peptide we offer is different: it is only prescribed after a licensed Nurse Practitioner reviews your health information, and it is compounded by a licensed U.S. 503A pharmacy under sterility and quality standards. You are never simply purchasing a product, you are receiving a prescription written specifically for you.
Yes, when it is prescribed by a licensed provider and compounded by a licensed pharmacy. Peptides sold online as "research chemicals" exist in a different legal category and are not intended for human use. Every treatment we offer follows the prescription and compounding process required by law.
No. Compounded preparations, including the peptides and GLP-1 medications we offer, are not FDA-approved as finished drug products. They are prepared by a licensed 503A pharmacy under a valid, individual prescription, following pharmacy compounding regulations, rather than the FDA's drug approval process. Your Nurse Practitioner can discuss what this means for your specific treatment.
Your Registered Nurse reviews your current medications as part of your intake, and any potential interactions are checked before your plan goes to our Physician for final approval.
Yes. All information is handled under HIPAA privacy standards and kept strictly confidential.
All peptides are compounded in the United States by a licensed 503A compounding pharmacy.
Peptide Therapy
Side effects vary by peptide and by person. Some patients notice mild, temporary reactions at the injection site, such as redness or irritation. Your Nurse Practitioner will review potential side effects specific to your treatment during your video visit, and your Registered Nurse is available if you have questions once you have started.
This varies significantly depending on the peptide and your goal. Some patients notice changes within a few weeks, while others require a longer, more consistent course of treatment. Your Nurse Practitioner can give you a more specific expectation based on your individual treatment plan.
It depends on the treatment. Some peptides are commonly paired with baseline lab work, particularly those related to hormone levels. Your Nurse Practitioner will let you know during your video visit if bloodwork is recommended for your specific plan.
Possibly. Your Registered Nurse reviews your current medications and supplements as part of your intake, and your Nurse Practitioner factors this into their evaluation before approving any treatment.
Your Registered Nurse can help adjust your plan at any time based on how you're responding. If something isn't working, we'll help you explore other options.
GLP-1 & Weight Loss
GLP-1 medications like Semaglutide and Tirzepatide are a specific class of prescription medication that mimic a hormone your body produces naturally after eating. They are regulated differently than the compounded peptides we offer for goals like recovery, longevity, or sleep, though both are prescribed and compounded through the same licensed process.
The most commonly reported side effect is nausea, especially in the first few weeks of treatment or after a dose increase, along with other digestive changes like bloating or constipation. These effects are often temporary and tend to improve as your body adjusts. Less common but more serious side effects are possible. Contact your care team promptly if you experience severe or persistent symptoms.
Compounded Semaglutide and Tirzepatide are prepared by a licensed 503A pharmacy under an individual prescription, following pharmacy compounding regulations. The FDA has published guidance noting that compounded versions of these medications have not undergone the FDA's own approval review the way the brand-name products have. Your Nurse Practitioner reviews your health history and determines your dose individually, and you should always contact your care team if you experience concerning symptoms.
Your Nurse Practitioner can discuss switching between these two options if your current treatment isn't the right fit. Any change in medication should go through your Nurse Practitioner rather than being self-directed, since dosing and titration differ between the two.
GLP-1 treatment is priced in three phases as your Nurse Practitioner adjusts your dose over time: Initiation (your starting dose), Titration (gradually increased under your Nurse Practitioner's guidance), and Maintenance (your ongoing steady dose). Semaglutide + B12 ranges from $249 to $349/mo by phase. Tirzepatide + B12 ranges from $299 to $549/mo by phase.
